I mainly play classical, folk, and gamelan music, with forays to practically any other style possible. If you are at the Society for Creative Anachronism, you may know me as Ze'ev ben'Arye, or maybe you've fulfilled my alter ego Marcellus Wolfhurst (who has been seen doing Morris dances while playing fiddle). I am also a nudist, and I have been proven to be more active in proselytizing the barefoot lifestyle. So, what exactly does all that make me? Meanwhile, visit my site or my LiveJournal to learn more information about me. Pickypedia I have only read Jason Scott's post The fantastic Failure of Wikipedia, and it got me thinking. While I do not agree with a lot of Scott's criticism, I feel a few of the points are legitimate enough that I'm suggesting an experiment to check them, popularly known as Pickypedia. 12:48, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC) Update: I have just return from a couple of months' wikivacation while I attempt to sort out if Wikipedia is still worth editing. While I feel as if I am making valuable contributions in certain areas, I can not dismiss people like Grace Notice and RickK. I'm still contemplating how to get Pickypedia off the floor. I guess what I am getting at with this is that I'm not convinced that a sufficiently massive wiki can stay self-correcting. Your opinions on this are welcome, either in my own talk page or at the Pickypedia discussion. (Historical November 2005; I forgot to date-stamp in the moment!) Update again: The discussion that I needed in editing Japanese speech (which you'll be able to observe some of about talk:Japanese language/archive001) has gone some way toward convincing me of everything I'd feared: that Wikipedia has a prejudice, maybe systemic, toward stultification and amateurism, and knowingly (as a method ) seems to rebel against the accession of possibly helpful info. I believe this might be an outgrowth of Wikipedia's anti-elitism -- a helpful mindset run amok, possibly. I'm not contributing to Wikipedia while I sort out this. I had been perfect.
